The warmth of wood
A room that feels gentle
All of the hotel rooms are wooden two-story maisonette-style. There is a sofa and desk on the first floor, a bathroom and sink, a closet, and a washroom and reading space on the second floor. The interior is like a tree house, using cedar from Kamikatsu Town, and the living room with the open air is filled with a sense of openness, with soft light entering the entire room.

The windows that reach the ceiling are reused using old shoji screens and glass doors. The rooms, which have sofas that have been replaced with discarded beds, curtains made of strips of fabric, and handles made from river stones in Kamikatsu Town, are wrapped in a warm feel and bring peace. There is no trash bin, and there is a handbag that houses six containers, making it easy to separate any waste that was released during your stay.

We will introduce how to spend your 2 nights and 3 days recommended by hotel staff. HOTEL WHY offers a multi-night stay plan for those who want to relax in Kamikatsu Town while feeling zero waste. Please use this as a reference for your trip.

Decide the amount you will need during your stay, such as coffee, Kamikatsu Awa Bancha, and soap, and decide on the amount you will need. Bottles and cans cans can be rented out to buy local beer and cookies by weight.
Once you've checked in, you'll be taking part in a study tour with the explanations of staff. Learn about the facilities, the history of Kamikatsu Town's garbage, and Zero Waste initiatives.
Enjoy the authentic Italian restaurant "PERTONARE" where the chef carefully selects fresh ingredients that you can get at that time, and enjoys the local flavor and the power of the ingredients.
If the weather is good, take the folding chairs in the guest rooms to the square. You can have all the stars to yourself, spreading out in Kamikatsu's night sky.

When you open the windows of your Lakeside room, you will see the vast panoramic views of the mountains from the wood deck, which is impressive. Breakfast along with the chirping of the birds while taking a deep breath in the clear air.
A workshop experience involves natural dyeing using Japanese red beetles, beetles, and yellowfin pierced yarns, which were born from Kamikatsu's cedar, and cloth "KINOF" with natural dyeing using Japanese red beetles, beetles and yellowfin pierced sachets collected from the town. It is also a perfect gift for family and friends.
Enjoy the daily lunch at Cafe Polestar and reflect on the history of Zero Waste. Try taking a taste of the ice cream from nearby "TONPUKU" and then head over to the suspension bridge.
Take a tour of the beer factory at RISE & WIN Brewing Co., which is usually difficult to access. I can't help but feel excited about my efforts to create a circular brewing system!
Everyone had a stone-grilled yakiniku dinner around the hearth. When you hear the Showa era pop songs played from a record player, the atmosphere inside the store makes you feel like you've traveled back in time.

Yaechi, Kamikatsucho, is a village that has been selected as one of the "100 Best Nihon no Satos." Enjoy a special breakfast while being soothed by the beautiful scenery of the rice terraces.
Put any garbage that comes out during your stay in a basket and take it to the garbage station for a separate experience. Food waste is buried in compost in the corner of the lawn square, then compost, and returned to the soil.

Enjoy an irreplaceable time through interactions with Kamikatsu's nature and local residents.
Trekking Mountain climbing in Inutake
Yama Inugaku is a divine swarm of giant stones and moss. We walk along a mountain path that is about 1km each way, aiming to become a "famous moss." A yoga stretching experience is also available along the course. It is also recommended for those who are new to mountain climbing. Lunch is at Tsukigaya Onsen, where a healthy lunch is prepared using local ingredients. Of course, there is a hot spring bath.

Rice Planting [Summer and autumn only] Rice planting and rice harvesting in rice terraces
Rice farming experiences will be held in May and September only in the rice terraces in Yaeji village, the deepest part of Kamikatsu Town, which was selected as one of the "100 Best Nihon no Satos." For lunch, everyone will be served rice cooked in Kamado, river fish grilled in the hearth, and dishes made with local ingredients.
